Best time to Visit

Spring (March, April, May) and autumn (September, October, November) are the best time to visit Bhutan. The mild weather during these months makes it a perfect time to visit the country. Thimphu Festival and Black-Necked Crane Festival - usually takes places at the end of September or early October. It is also the right time to think about Jomolhari trekking, river rafting and kayaking. Marathon enthusiasts can take part in Bhutan International marathon. Snowfall can be expected in winter- from December, January, and February. Consider travelling in June or December for low season price while still having favourable weather. How to reach

Air

  • The only international airport in Bhutan is in Paro, located west of the capital, Thimphu. Drukair and Bhutan Airlines are the only airlines which service in Bhutan.
  • There is a domestic airport in Bumthang that is connected to Paro by Tashi Air. Domestic flights are available but there are no daily services.

Road

  • The country have fairly good road network, except the northern region.
  • Most of Bhutan's roads are mountainous with lots of winding turns.Remember, self-driving though can definitely be an adventure!
  • Toyota Coaster Buses are cheap and are fairly comfortable.
  • Taxis or share taxis are arguably the best way to go about, as there are not many options for you to choose from. The prices of these hires can be negotiated directly.
